Verizon Whines that Google Makes Too Much Money

Executive savant John Thorne from Verizon:

The network builders are spending a fortune constructing and maintaining the networks that Google intends to ride on with nothing but cheap servers,” Thorne told a conference marking the 10th anniversary of the Telecommunications Act of 1996. “It is enjoying a free lunch that should, by any rational account, be the lunch of the facilities providers.”

Right because Google doesn’t pay millions for their bandwidth usage like evey other ISP on the planet. Not exactly ‘cheap servers’.
Plus the telecoms get our payment to have access to this bandwidth.
They get us coming and going – but now they want to triple dip!
Do the executive and accountants have any clue how the underlying technology of the internet functions?
It’s not like they’re Exxon or somethin’.
It’s the beginning of tiered pay-to-play internet access folks and it’s gonna screw up the whole thing.

I say it’s time we all switch providers! Who provides your cell phone service, or your internet? Any of this big monopolystic companies then cancel the service. There are a lot of smaller companies that could use new clients and provide great service. Big companies are big because we all contribute to it. So if they want to ruin the many wonderful possibilities the net has to offer, let’s quit complaining and start doing something about it! Before is too late!
