Contact Form Freak of the Week

I can’t imagine what kind of freak emails really famous people get but usually once a week I get some kind of strange submission to my site’s contact form. This week:

—— 1/2/07 11:06 PM ANDY- i NEED TO KNOW HOW TO START. AND ONE QUESTION wHAT’S A BLOG? [XXXXX] GAVE ME YOUR FREE OFFER 1/2/07 11:06 PM ——–

If you go the homepage of my site and don’t notice the massive, throbbing ‘What’s a Blog?’ form and don’t download the book excerpt to find out exactly what is a blog then I really have no patience for you as a consumer. Or you could you know buy the book. Ya see, that’s why you write books, so you don’t have to explain things over and over again. That’s also why you do teleseminars. Or an ezine.

I get the same kinds of questions but they go like this…
“Michael, I saw your book at B&N and I’m wondering what’s the #1 to get more clients?”
(Note the operative word “saw” rather than “bought”)
We do what we do to stand in the service of others as we stand in the service of our destiny but we’ve got to have and honor our Red Velvet Rope Policy.
Oh, and by the way, don’t ask me what the Red Velvet Rope Policy is–just buy the book 🙂 Or at least borrow it from the library and read chapter one.
Point of this comment is to agree with you Andy…. we must be very thoughtful when choosing who we serve.

Ha, ha! Andy, I laughed out loud at this post. I know you were totally serious when you posted this but, it was funny to learn that other people get email like this, too.
I most low-vibration (I’m being nice) question I’ve received lately was:
“I went to your web site and read all about The Technology Diet. How long is the program?”
Never mind that I outline the EIGHT WEEKS on the web site he says he read. Wow.
Obviously, I gave that email address to my assistant for “sign-up alert”.
    Thanks for making my day!
