It could be I’m insane. I could be my latent hatred for Kenneth Lay.
I’m pulling for Martha. I really am. I think because I am fascinated on how the company is going to attempt to re-build Martha’s brand. Will they shift towards putting less Martha in the Martha and turning her name into an icon like Betty Crocker – divorcing her of her legal troubles? That’s the problem with personality-based brands.
Part of me hoped she’s be born-again and come out of jail as an advocate for the rights of women prisoners. She has such a huge platform now and I’m sure she’ll spend it on building business instead of something greater.
