The Lieberman campaign keeps teaching us online marketing lessons:
Joe Lieberman’s website went down a couple days ago and the blogosphere went crazy with rumors of denial-of-service attacks (the IP addresses remained ping-able). Analysis has shown:
– Lieberman’s campaign was paying $15/month for shared hosting – they weren’t the only customer on the box they were on.
– They should have used a load-balancer to route the traffic properly.
– In the event of the outage they should have immediately moved a backup site into place with a different webhost.
