US House Judiciary Committee Passes Internet Non-Discrimination Act

Nice to know sometimes that our phone calls make a difference:

Yesterday, the House Judiciary Committee passed H.R. 5417, the “Internet Freedom and Nondiscrimination Act of 2006, which I introduced with Committee Chairman Jim Sensenbrenner, Ranking Member John Conyers and Rep. Rick Boucher last week. This is the first bill with real protections for Net Neutrality that has passed any committee in Congress, and I am proud to be a part of it.

Next up:

The next hurdle for Net Neutrality is whether we will have a full vote on the House floor. If you care about the freedom that Net Neutrality protects, contact your Member of Congress and ask that H.R. 5417 be scheduled to come before the full House of Representatives as either a separate bill or an amendment.

Thank you Andy, for helping us all remain free to do that thing we do. On Memorial Day weekend, it’s especially important to remember that many gave their lives so we could have the free Internet we know and love so dearly.
