Scoble on The Perfect Business

Nice to see my thoughts on Dan Pink’s Whole New Mind echoed elsewhere:

The perfect business? No inventory. No employees. No marginal cost of production. No rent. No business cards. Just a server hosting fee, a few other startup expenses, and a bank account to hold a lot of cash coming in.

I was talking about this with the owner of one of my favorite restaurants here in Chicago (Nookies on Halsted owned by super-sexy my future ex-husband Micihael) and he had finally gotten down to reading Blogwild and he will be opening 2 new restaurants in Andersonville (north of Lakeview/Wrigley) and we talked about how even with food service in a world of mass automation and outsourcing and continually driving down costs, the only thing left to compete on anymore is service and creativity.
