Idiot Think Tank: iPods Responsible for Increase in Crime

Sounds like someone in the PR department thought this would be a great way to get the organization on the map:

The Urban Institute, a Washington-based think tank, has reportedly come to the conclusion that the reason US violent crime rose in 2005 and 2006 after declining every year since 1991 is because more iPods were on the streets.

They argue that the tantalizing gadgets are perhaps the main reason U.S. violent crime rose in 2005 and 2006 after declining every year since 1991—although a close look at the findings suggests the hypothesis has holes.

But we’re the Denver Post and we’ll print the crap anyway.
